Be Praised, Holy Father,
Pastor of Practical Faith!
Your words are a new hymn,
with the world as choir.

Be Praised, Old Poet!
White-robed, you raise
an alarm with metaphors
that disarm naysayers.

Be Praised, Man of Science!
Your papal dissertations
dare call us to scholarship:
we, stewards of the Earth.

Be Praised, Kind Soul!
All creatures great and small
rejoice that in the saint’s name,
your passions echo his.

Be Praised, Brave Champion
of Sacred Truth Untold!
Your prayers are being answered
even now in the evening news.
