Doors open
Doors close

Dreams leave
a village
of hungers
for the city
of riches

Doors open

After handshakes
meals swell
into feasts
Coins run
out of pockets

Doors open

Ambition crosses
the threshold
into greed
Hubris needs
a place to hide

Doors open
Doors close

As laws wink
secret wallets
swallow wealth
in the village
of distance

…until the day
doors open
for good
